Some of you will know a little of the 'Naughty Nina Saga' - the story of my maternal grandmother. Well her first marriage (on Christmas Day) was to a guy called Charles Newcombe who was born in Clapham, Surrey, London in 1890. He shows in the census' of 1891 - father Frederick Newcombe - but after the wedding there is literally no trace of him. He has NO middle name.

Can anyone shed any light on where he might have got to? I know that the Edmeds had links, via the British army, with Canada - I'm wondering if the Newcombes were thre same?

That will really be useful as in addition to Charles Newcombe I'm also trying to find the birth records and family of my maternal great grandmother - Mary Ellen Stapleton - who was, I now know, born in Halifax N.S. in 1869. But with that, so far, I've had no luck at all - and now here you are with a site just for Nova Scotia...... Thank you so much!
