I sent an email requesting my GF's military records. He was born in 1880 in Raccuja. His first trip to the US was in 1909. Then he shows up again in the US on a ships manifest arriving in Feb 1913, his wife following in August that year.

I used google to translate this, but would like a better translation. It seems to say he left Italy before they made a decision, and to sent $10 for the document?? And is that 10 dollars, or Euros?

Thanks,

Jerry

Prot. 2757/IX.5.2 (27)

Distinti saluti.

Il Ricercatore: Salvatore Casablanca
P. Il Direttore: Dott.ssa Eleonora Della Valle

We apologize for the delay in answering, due to the move of the archive and the offices in a more suitable location.
We have done an accurate check on the Leva registers of the Comune of Raccuia, Circondario di Patti for the year 1880 and we have found the name shown in the subject, he results to be first rejected and later on considered a draft-dodger, therefore it is likely that Malvuccio Rosario emigrated before the final decision of the army selection board (Consiglio di Leva), actually further searches in the Ruoli matricolari Registers for the years 1879-1881 ad no result.
If you desire to receive a copy of the document found you must send 10 USD (no checks) to cover all the expenses.
Greetings
