This may sound silly but did people still go through Ellis Island if their final destination was Canada?
I've been trying to trace an Erasmo DiCicco who was married to Jovana(could be Giovana) Fella
They arrived in Quebec before June 2nd 1898 (their son Joseph Michelangelo was born in Quebec on that date)
I have tried searching Ellis Island through the Dr Stephen Morse site but can find no manifest linking to this family. Am I searching in the wrong place?
Emmy
edit: I have just found 4 entries for Erasmo under the Castlegarden years 1855-1891 'All NYpassengers' the surname was written as Dicecca and Diciaccio but I cant get any further because I'm not subrcribed to Ancestry, could someone please look this up for me? It may not be the family but I thought it wouild be worth a try Thank you!

Emmy,
I'll try and see what I can find. Passengers to Canada did go through Ellis prior to Halifax's Pier 21 opening. Even my Dad went through Ellis in 1957 and took a train through Fort Erie on to Toronto. My mom arrived in 1961 and she went through Halifax.
Be right back..

I also should have said that people traveled through the other ports as well as Ellis to go to Canada...
So far, these all seem to be from Elena Caserta....
