I just felt compelled to say this. As I am sure that this is already common knowledge but you never know.

I have used facebook as a resource in finding some of my living relatives in Sicilia. I have to say that it works very well.

Just thought that I would suggest. Sometimes people dont think of the obvious. I know I sure didnt until about a year ago.

Good luck to all and I hope this helps.

I think Facebook is a wonderful resource if used correctly. I use it all the time for research and to keep in touch with my family overseas.

I've also tried locating relatives through FB, but have not had any success. Any tips, Mike or Nuccia? Smile

I looked at my family tree for certain names of living younger cousins and then searched and found them on F.B. If you are looking blindly, there are surname groups you can join that may help you find your relatives. Also, several towns in Italy have their own FB groups too.

Our family is in contact with many cousins in Italy, and we love how Facebook allows us to see each other and keep in touch. I got the ball rolling with one of my cousins there, and once my aunt went to visit Busca this month and saw everybody face to face, everybody on the Italian side just started sending friend requests to us! Smile

We are all really enjoying the connections and the dialogue.

Hi lynne, believe it or not I just went on FB and typed in all know last names in my family one by one. For instance Nigrelli. There must have been 50 of them. some of which were still inmy grandmothers home town of Mussomeli. I contacted and behold, i found two cousins. I was amazed. So Itried with Ristagno in Piazza Armerina and found three there.

Thanks for your replies. It's wonderful that you've all been able to connect with family on Facebook...it sure is an invaluable tool! Not sure how much of my maternal side of the family is still residing in Caulonia. My MGGF had one sister who came to America, and my MGGM didn't have any siblings, so I'm thinking there may be no one left in Italy. I've typed in both Ali and Grigora last names when searching on FB, but have not come up with anyone remotely related.
