Hello 'anyone'...

I asked this question (below) on 'eblogger' where I have my 'blog'. Someone has kindly replied, but (what's new?), I have NO idea what they are talking about.

Can anyone here explain to me in words of no more that one syllable what it all means - and is it easy?

"How to change host server"
I have had my blog for 3years. It has been hosted free of charge by a
forum/web site I belong to.
I am now a partner/owner of another website and want my "eblogger"
blog to be hosted on that. Can this be done without losing the content
and if so, how can I achieve this?

Externally using FTP
publishing, you can change to another FTP host, or you could use
Custom Domain publishing.

If you decide to change from FTP to Custom Domain, be sure to publish
to BlogSpot when switching.

What they are talking about in general terms is obtaining the blogging software and installing it onto the new server using software called FTP (File Transfer Protocol). Once installed and configured, you will most likely have to obtain the database files and get them installed on the new service provider.

This is the difficult area. If your current blog has an export/import function, you should be able to export from the old site and then import the files into the newly set up site and all should be good ...

What is the path to your current blog ... or, what software is it maintained on?

I can look into it, but need a bit more to do the research.

Hi Bob, thanks for coming back on this one.... I have decided (reluctantly) to leave the 'old blog' where it is sooner than chance losing the archives (3 years worth) that are on it, and perhaps start a new one.

I am busy (floundering around a bit) trying to master building a new website all by myself(!!!), I'm slowly getting there and it should be partially ready to publish shortly. But like everyones sites it will be a long running 'work in progress' I'm afraid.

Once this is ready to publish it will be linked to "Gente di Mare". Nuccia wanted to host it, but I fear that will not be possible or sensible. There are other sites that are far more pertinent to the role that Gente plays than my musings.... even if 'Naughty Nina' is a part of them.
