Question about birth document

What is the meaning of the word following the mother, Mattia Amato? Is consort just another word for spouse in this context?

This doesn't appear in a second document issued on the same day for another child. It appears that twin boys were born.

You are correct, consorte = spouse

Mattia Amato sua consorte = Mattia Amato his spouse (wife)

Thanks, Livio, that was the first time I had ever run into that phrasing on a birth document so I was a little started to find it. It is easy to forget that the officials recording the facts given them for these documents had personalities and proclivities all their own, as well as varying vocabularies.
