Hello Very Happy
Just received my great grandparents marriage record from Italy and the record of one of their children's record of birth.
I now know my great great grandparent's names!
My heart is bursting with joy and I so wish my dad were alive so I could tell him!
I kind of found this on a fluke. I could never find any census from 1900 for my great grandparents and I miss spelled the surname by accident and found it. It listed a child I didn't know anything about that was born in Italy, so I went looking for the Ellis Island record and found her and she traveled with her mother (my great grandmother) and that's how I found out my g grandmother's maiden name!
So far, all dates and names match, so I am pretty sure that the records from Italy go with my family.
Just had to share. I am just so darn happy Mr. Green

Great news! Also, I like your screen name. It is very cute. My DH also likes your name because he loved his nonnie too. Wink

Once again the "Gente" Luck holds...and thank you so much for sharing your joy with us!

I'm so pleased for you Lib, and you are SO right. When you discover something 'unexpectedly' like that you just can't believe your eyes - it makes you do a double take on what you see on the screen - right? The same thing happened to me a week or so ago and (I know) to many others here on "Gente" too.

The feeling is indescribable isn't it. Do you laugh, cry, scream or just run around the room like a demented cat and crash out afterwards like this one????

Hi Lib
I know EXACTLY how you feel this has happened to me too and its difficult to find the words to express how you feel. I'd like to bet its an even better feeling finding this information than it would be winning the lottery!

I'm beginning to believe its something to do with the 'luck' being on this Forum. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

It's great to hear of your good news, sadly like you my father passed away before I ever started searching my families past. I'm sure he would have been pleased with the information I now have. Hopefully I may be able to pass on good news.

Thank you all for sharing in my happiness! It does feel as though I hit the lottery, Emmy Very Happy

Riccardo, info is for the paternal side of my family. Always knew they were from Sicily but didn't really know anymore than that. VJ, made the suggestion that Santa Margherita Belice, Agrigento was a possibility (from viewing the ship manifest) and she was so right Smile Giant hugs to VJ!

Poipu...I think you would *smile* if you heard me pronounce your screen name...mine should really have been luvmynonnies..pleural. You know, one of the wonderful perks of all this research is that it brings back so many wonderful memories of my childhood. If I concentrate, I can still taste my nonnie's pasta. We call the sauce *gravy*

Carole, love the pic of your kitty. Ours loves the computer as well, lol.

Nuccia, you asked if there was anything you can do...I wish I had a scanner so I could post the scanned marriage document so you could give me your opinion on the names of my great great grandparents. Unfortunately, the copy is dark in that particular area and the wonderful lady that transcribed the document into English wrote that they are:
Gonernale and Provendenza...I am just not sure and there is no one left in the family that would know Sad

I went back and found the ship's manifest for Rose Ricca and Francesco Bosco (her daughter) and up a few lines in the manfiest is listed a Anna Governale! Maybe that was Rose's mom and she traveled with them?
Maybe GoNernale should of been GoVernale? I cannot find the surname of Gonernale anywhere.

Lol, more questions....I am just so happy that I have even gotten this far!
You all are the best...and YES, Gente is good luck!

Hey, lovemynonnie...I had trouble saying my screen name the first time I saw it. It sounds like Poy-pooh. It is a gorgeous ocean side town in Hawaii. Wink
