Hello, I'm hoping that someone here can help me with translation of a few old documents. I was lucky enough to dig up a few documents from the 1700's which were either written by one of my ancestors (barone don Francesco Jannucci) or have something to do with him. They come from the national archives of Naples. They're hand written but still pretty legiable. I just don't read Italian very well. It would only let me upload 3 of the 4 pics. Thanks for any help you can give me.

- Mike

I'd suggest larger images or links to larger images as these aren't really readable as they are now.

I agree with tjbrn, these images aren't really readable, too small. In addition they seem to be pages without a beginnin and withouth an end. The first page, from what I can see is in Italian but the second and the third one are in Spanish.

thanks for your advice. Sorry you're just hearing back from me, I guess I didn't properly set up a way for the web site to alert me. I checked back a few times but didn't see anything. I'm pretty sure that these documents are all in Italian as my ancestors were barons in the area around Campobasso for many generations and I don't know of any reason why they would be in another language other than perhaps Latin. They very well may be incomplete. I truly don't know. I was told that there may be some historical documents at the national archives of Naples so I put in a request for any documents that made mention of them and this is what they sent me by email. I'll try and upload one at a time and make them bigger.

Thanks again.

It keeps telling me that the maximum size of an attachment is 256. It won't let me post a larger picture of them. Any Ideas?

I don't know how to upload images so, I hope someone else can help you to.
Then, I'm Italian and live in Italy so I do understand the language. The images are too small but I can catch a few words. They are not in Latin, I studied Latin and can understand the difference. The first document is in old Italian. I also studied Spanish and the words I can catch on the second and third document are in Spanish.
Naples and Southern Italy were under Spanish domination up to the middle of 1800 so quite easy that some documents could be in Spanish.
On the second image, 6th line you can see: "... en 6 de Mayo del año pasado....". This means in Spanish: "...on the 6th May of last year...". On third image, first line: "....dela Iglesia Colegial dela Conception de Teramo...." standing for: "...of the CollegialChurch of the Conception in Teramo...". I can see the name of Francesco Jannucci mentioned but I can't read all the words and don't understand how he's related to the rest.
If someone will help you and tell you how to upload larger images, I might try and see if I understand what's written.
Sorry not to be able to help more for now.

Ada

Thanks you Ada and Nuccia for your help with this. I'm new to this ancestry stuff so your assistance is greatly appreciated. My ancestors were barons of the feud of Tappino, a very small and rural feud just outside of Campobasso. The earliest ancestor that I'm aware of was Pietro Jannucci who worked as a lawyer for the kings court in Naples. He became the first baron of Tappino in 1618 as documented in the chamber of Sommaria. I'm not sure where they came from before that. In the 1800's don Francesco Jannucci moved with his family to his new wifes(Maria Francesca Carafa) town of Campolieto and the family remained there for almost 150 years before immigrating to the US. I'm now hunting for family documents in Italy(but from my home computer in North Carolina).

That's my story
