Griffiths Valuation

Just came across this one ... looks incredible!

Wish it had been a joke. Don't know that happened ... I actually posted that link on three sites and it worked on the other two.

Should be correct now.

This is a joke, right? The link is circular! The Irish Forum seems to be on permanent maintenance or at least it is every time I attempt to access the site.

Hey Bob, I think Tom is right, your link just returns me to our ("Gente") Forum page...

Perhaps you better have a look!

Just tried the link and got to the site, and just in time as I was stuck looking for the Beecher family of my cousin's husband Dan. Can't find the notes though, so frustrated again (it's in his e-mail). The ancestor came through Montreal and ended up in Canandaigua, New York not far from here, but I can't find anything in the census or the books at the History Room at Seymour Library. The information Dan got at the Orleans County was like a step by step account of his travels.

Well, I'll go the other direction, to Ireland - Thanks to you Bob, much easier.

Dave

Bob,

Found the e-mail ----> this is the notation in the Orleans County archives:

"I was born in the County of Cork in Ireland am about the age of twenty four. I am a subject on the Queen of Great Britain and Ireland whence I owe allegiance. I emigrated from the County of Cork in April 1836 and arrived at Quebec in July of the same year and came into the United States in September 1836. I have resided in the State of New York for the last eight years and in Ontario and Wayne Counties for the last seven years."

Pretty amazing that it is in the first person. When I read it, I could just see him in my mind speaking .

Dave
