This link gives access to the UK National Archives News letter and links to the archives.

I always find difficulty in following their 'filing system' but maybe that's just me... I hope it will be useful to you!

Thanks Carole. I will go and get lost in it too now since I have trouble using my telephone directory most days.

Carol, in your wonderful knowledge, do you know how I would search for records prior to 1841? Birth, Death in particular.

Pallot's has been great; the census have been great; but I am needing more.

Lilbees..
First of all I would ask - births and deaths and other records from which countries? If I know that I might know someone I could ask. But I would think that our wise owls like James and Cathy would be far more knowledgeable on your question than me!

Then I would need to explain that I am more of an amateur genealogist than most here. I know very little Embarassed about searches anywhere outside the UK I'm afraid. I am nearing closure on the search for the maternal side of my family and so have been able, until now, to happily avoid beginning the search for my husband's Italian family. In all honesty, just the thought of dealing with the red tape and beaurocracy here in Italy scares me half to death!

So sorry Carol, I am need of old records from England. The Yeoman family..........and there are lots of them. I have found birth records for the children 1839-1844. Need records for the years 1800-1820.

Would like more pror to that but I am not greedy. Would like to finish that particular generation first.

I'm not sure if you subscribe to Ancestry or not lilbees. But I just checked out thier total list of databases, and standard BMD records start at 1837 there. But they have this data base (below) that 'may' be what you are looking for. If it is, and you don't have Ancestry, let me know and give me some more details and I'll see what I can find!

About England (General): Parish and Probate Records
This database is a collection of historical parish registers from England. The records in this collection can range in date from the early 1500s to the mid- to late-1800s. Parish records--primarily baptisms, marriages, and burials--provide the best sources of vital record information in the centuries before civil registration. Baptismal records generally list the date of the baptism, the name of the child being baptized, and the name of the father. Marriage records generally include the date of the marriage and the names of the bride and groom. Burial records generally list the date of the burial and the name of the deceased individual. Occasionally burial records will include other bits of information, such as where the individual was from or if he/she was a widow.

For more information about this database, click here.

This database is a collection of historical parish and probate registers from the Country of England. The records in this collection can range in date from the early 1500s to the mid- to late-1800s. Some non-parish records may be included from as early as the twelfth century. Parish records--primarily baptisms, marriages, and burials--provide the best source of vital record information in the centuries before civil registration. The records include baptisms/christenings, burials, marriages, tombstone inscriptions, obituaries, tax lists, wills, and other miscellaneous types of records. Also included are some records from non-conformist churches. All of the data was converted as it was originally presented in various published registers and books. For this reason, you will find interesting phonetic spellings and large descriptive tables of contents.

I have searched in most of those databases. No luck with this family. I have been in possession of written family records going back to 1759. Other than the recent generations there are no source records, i.e., birth, death, marriage documents. I have been able to pick up documents after the family immigrated to the US in 1846 but nothing in England.

I do have an Ancestry World Subscription which I use daily.

Thanks for your assistance. If you come up with anything else let me know.
