I thought this link might be of some interest as it covers the whole of Italy in sections and in both Italian and English!

Thanks for the great link Carole. I was just checking it out and it lists all volcanic activity by year and area. If you look at that section of the site it almost looks like the very early years the activity was mostly in the north and moved to central, as years went by the activity moved south. Wonder if that means anything?
