Can someone who has a paid ancestry acct look something up for me?

I need the 1930 census record, surname: Pennachio, they lived in Beacon, NY, the wifes first name is carmela. No name yet, for the husband.

If someone looks and finds nothing, can you please let me know, too?

Could this information be useful to you? It's the only one under Carmela that I could see so far.

1930 United States Federal Census
about Carmella Pennachio
Name: Carmella Pennachio
Home in 1930: Brooklyn, Kings, New York
Age: 6
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1924
Relation to Head-of-house: Daughter
Parent's Name: Rose
Race: White
Occupation:

Education:

Military service:

Rent/home value:

Age at first marriage:

Parents' birthplace:

Neighbors: View others on page
Household Members:
Name Age
Rose Pennachio 40
Anthony Pennachio 21
Esther Pennachio 17
Albert Pennachio 15
Mimi Pennachio 13
Angelo Pennachio 10
Rose Pennachio 10
Carmella Pennachio 6

By any chance, do you have a year of birth for her or any other information? She could be going under another name (you know, like Maria or Rosa..)

No.

These people were either cousins of my mother, or very good friends that they called cousins. My mothers youngest sister claims they werent related. Shes still alive. I have been looking for these Beacon NY people for years. I thought I found them, when I found a very familiar name, going page by page in the 1930 census. The people I found, came from the same town in Italy as my grandparents, I heard my mother say this last name a bazillion times. The man was a barber, as was my grandfather..so, for 3 years I thought I found them. The only thing that didnt fit, with whom I found was..my aunt said they owned a grocery store..she remembers going there..and the man that I found was a barber. I have ball parked the visits that my mothers family made there, to be between 1931 and 1934...so this is why I think those people were living there for the 1930 census. (If not, I will have to wait for the next census).

Last night my cousin emails me. He said he found this postcard, that my aunt found when she cleaned out the oldest sisters apartment, after she died. I am not clear as to who sent the card. The writing mentioned Beacon, and the surname Pennacchio. Whomever sent this card, mentions she wrote to carmella but she never replied. The first thing I did with that info was to come here. Late last night, I realized that maybe carmela wasnt the wife...but a daughter?

I found that family name, still living there. I believe that the people I am finding are decendents of this family. I am leaning now towards the male first names as Francesco/Frank, Patrick/Pasquale, and possibly Michael/michele. By the time I finished with my net searching..it was almost 3am. I was half asleep, so I have to take another look at what I found and there are a few more searches I would like to do.

So..the name carmela might be a daughter. The head of household could be frank, patrick or michael (I am leaning towards frank). And the sons could be patrick, frank and michael.

When I am done with all of my other searches, I might just join ancestry for a month, myself..lol

Oh..I had found 2 aunts of my mother..which were short of a miracle. The info that I was always told by her was a bit mixed up. I thought I was looking for one person (with no first or last name, mind you). I ended up eventually finding two..one was in the town my mother mentioned...the other was the one with a couple of sets of twins. There is no doubt that these people are the right ones. For these people, I have the proof.

I dont know why we didnt ask enough questions when there were people alive that had the answers..lol

Biff,

Thank you so much for these.

I am not sure these are the people...but, they could be. The children all match the people that I have been finding in the SS death index. I also found an obit for one of the wives of these children. Some of their children are still there, now.

I would love to find the ship pass record for this man (Frank/Francesco). Maybe I would get a clue out of the town name, or where he was going when he came here.

Once, more..thank you so much.

Based on 1915 census information below, this record is likely incorrect.

Possible marriage record from IGG:

Groom
Pennacchio Francesco Nov 19 1905 Manhattan 25742
Bride
Scemega Anna Nov 19 1905 25742 Manhattan

Biff, you are great at this.

I am still trying to make some sense of this...since, this man (Frank) is much older than my grandfather. My grandfather was born in 1887. This man was born 1870. I was under the impression (or rather, told) that my grandfather helped him out with money. I assumed, that was when he came here from italy..only, Frank seems to have gotten here the year before my grandfather.

Beacon is a small town. I couldnt imagine back then, there were a whole lot of Pennacchio people there. It looks to me, like this might be the only family, therefore, "the one".

Another thought that I had was..perhaps this man passed away..and it was the son or the daughter, which my grandfather had this connection with.

It wont be long, I think, before I make some sense out of this.

Thank you again, for all of your help.

1915 Beacon NY census from
Dutchess County Genealogy

Pennocchio, Frank Head W M 42 Italy 17 AL Lace Worker
Pennocchio, Anne Wife W F 32 Italy 17 AL Lace Worker
Pennocchio, Fannie Dau W F 18 Italy 17 AL Lace Worker
Pennocchio, Mary Dau W F 16 U.S. CIT. Lace Worker
Pennocchio, Michael Son W M 14 U.S. CIT. School
Pennocchio, Joseph Son W M 10 U.S. CIT. School
Pennocchio, Alban Dau W F 8 U.S. CIT. School
Pennocchio, Rose Dau W F 7 U.S. CIT. School
Pennocchio, Camilia Dau W F 5 U.S. CIT. No Occupation
Pennocchio, Patrich Son W M 2 U.S. CIT. No Occuaption

If the data above is correct, Anne/Anna and Frank/Francesco were married before they came to the states since daughter Fannie was born in Italy which would mean the marriage record I posted above is incorrect.

This looks like the same people.

I think the Francesco on the passenger list that I found is this man too. I calculated the age wrong, earlier. The age matches this man. The town, is that of my grandfathers. He traveled alone, tho. I did a search on filomena, before I saw this..since all of the filomena that I know, became fanny. I guess the wife came a few months later? I cant find her without her maiden name, and the daugher is probably one of those "figlia di" situations.

Once more, thank you so much.

Biff, are you able to see the family trees on ancestry? I was doing a search and found the names of this family here:

search.ancestry.com/cg...hbVDh8-61-

I am guessing, all they have is the names that are there and on the next page. We know all of those names. Can you see if it goes back any more generations on the Pennacchio side?

Me again. I just found a forum post by the person this tree belongs to. She is their great grandchild. I dont think she has a tree further back than them. She doesnt even seem to know annas maiden name...so I doubt the tree has anything more than what I found.

Is this the manifest you found for Francesco?

1899 manifest line 30
Name: Francesco Pennacchio
Arrival Date: 17 Apr 1899
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1870
Age: 29
Gender: Male
Port of Departure: Naples, Italy
Ethnicity/RaceĀ/Nationality: Italian
Ship Name: Hesperia
Port of Arrival: New York, New York
Last residence: Rioner
--Two possibilities:
---Rionero in Vulture, province: Potenza - region: Basilicata
---Rionero Sannitico, province: Isernia - region: Molise
Destination: New York to join brother Giuseppe, 424 E. 113th Street
Occupation: Mason

I did see the tree you mention on Ancestry but it contains a number of incorrect source documents. It might be helpful if you're interested in finding some of Francesco and Anna's children's spouses--assuming that information is correct.

Yes thats the manifest that I have. Thanks for this copy tho..I have to capture those in two parts. When its all together its easier to read. I am going to guess that its rionero in vulture..since thats where my grandfather came from..and I know the surname is there.

I wouldnt mind seeing the surnames. I have a few surnames, for the children of the son patrick/pasquale. I got those of their mothers obit. If you can, can you post me what she has there?

I've been unable to locate the family in 1910 but did find this 1910 census.
Approximate year of birth and immigration year are off, however.
Interesting since Ossining is just a few miles south of Beacon.

Name: Francesco Peunarchig
[Francesco Pennacchio]
Age in 1910: 42
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1868
Birthplace: Italy
Relation to Head-of-house: Prisoner
Father's Birth Place: Italy
Mother's Birth Place: Italy
Home in 1910: Ossining, Westchester, New York
Marital Status: Married
Race: White
Gender: Male
Year of Immigration: 1902
