The Ciociaro Club in Winsdor is holding a Grandparents Day Event on Sept 11 hosted by the Italian Genealogy & Heraldry Society of Canada. I was contacted about this about 6 weeks ago and was invited (along with my husband and Simy) to attend which I thought would be rather fun so I accepted.

What I didn't expect was that while I am there, I will be interviewed (for TV) about the contributions Gente - and we - have made to the Italian community! This is really exciting for Carole and I and for all of you as well, I hope.

I'm not sure of all the details yet, but I am looking forward to meeting new people and just having a good time. If anyone is interested in attending the event, the information is as follows:

Quote::
FRIDAY SEPT 11 - FESTA DEI NONNI (GRANDPARENTS DAY CELEBRATION)
Buffet style dinner, family history displays, door prizes, raffle...$35. adults $15. kids...at Ciociaro Club by the Italian Genealogy & Heraldry Society of Canada.

Please upload the interview to YouTube. I'm sure we would all love to see it. Joe B.

Congratualions Nuccia but you have the proof right with you in the form of Simy because not only does Gente give great help with genealogy but the members become true friends - quite a few of the members have already visited each other too.
ps when you get interviewd just be sure you dont use any of those words that you said you had taught to Simy Wink Wink

I know you will....

But we're all looking forward to seeing the recording and checking out if either of you let any 'choice' Calabrese words slip, or if they edit it and put in the 'beep' each time you forget!!!

Hi Everyone!

We got back about 2 am last night and were too tired to do much The evening (the whole day actually) was awesome and we had a really great time. The interviews were done quite late at night and we needed to get home so luckily we were able to convince them to keep it short (it was a four hour drive back). We met a lot of great people though and some wonderful contacts. Simona managed to take only a few pictures and she will try to upload them here soon!

Here are a few pictures from last weekend's event. Should have posted them earlier but we have been so busy around here:

A picture of the wonderful Italian Choir all dressed in traditional dress. Carole, I think you would have really enjoyed this part of the evening.

And a view of Michigan from Windsor:

A locomotive:

And if you have the chance, check out this amazing woman's site. She does Photo Restoration like nothing I have ever seen before - and shes a lot of fun to boot!

Honestly, I fell in love with Windsor. So clean and the people so nice. I really hope we can go back again soon. We were a bit apprehensive about the car being able to handle the drive since it's 11 years but it did. Unfortunately, she broke down the next day and we finally were able to have her repaired.

Great photos - thanks Nuccia.... Is that Detroit accross the water?

But where are the ones of you and Simy being interviewed or of the meal/buffet or whatever... You did take some I hope?

Any idea when we'll be able to see the interview? Can't wait!

There are no pictures of us. It was a very quick interview and we were trying to talk to as many people as we could. We also really needed to leave since it was late and such a long ride back - honestly, there was no time.

Yes, That is Detroit I believe across Lake Erie.

I have heard anything about when the interview will air but as soon as I know something I will let you know.

DARN... I'm sure many of us were hoping to put a face on the Nuccia that we all know so well. Guess I'll just have to wait for the TV. Will it air in the states? Joe B.
