This is a cut and paste from an e-mail:
Forgotten Ellis Island, the first film to be produced about the immigrant hospital on Ellis Island, will be shown on New York public television station WNET, Tuesday September 29 at 10PM ET and on WLIW Sunday October 4 also at 10PM.
Narrated by Elliott Gould, “Forgotten Ellis Island” reveals the best and the worst of treatment that newcomers to America received at the country’s then-biggest port of entry.
Filmmaker Lorie Conway tells the stories of the immigrants who were quarantined or deported. The program revolves around the 22-building medical facility sprawled over Ellis Island and two adjacent islands that held newcomers who failed inspection. There, they experienced their first or only days in America.
First broadcast nationally in February, the program is complemented by a web site ForgottenEllisIsland.com and a book, which features over 200 pages of compelling, sometimes heartbreaking stories of patients and medical staff, many never-before-published historic photos and the compelling work of photographer Christopher Barnes.
A special edition of the book and a DVD of the program are available through our web site with a donation of $150 or more.
As the nation once again wrestles with the issue of immigration, Forgotten Ellis Island reminds us how we became the diverse nation that we are today. It is a powerful tribute to the best and worst of America's dealings with its new citizens-to-be.

I missed the September 29th one but I am looking forward to seeing if we can catch the program on Oct 4rth. I heard it was very interesting as I think it aired the first time a few months ago. Was anyone able to see the program? If so, how was it?
