"Bonanno" is a good candidate but there are several Ns in the document and they are all different from the one after the letter O...

Thanks for the help. As it turns out, I was going over some other birth documents after I posted the document in question and found one of a birth in 1846 in which the mother's surname appears to be Bonnano.

This is the second wife but she is not mentioned on Girolamo's death certificate; however, his first and third wives are.
And even more puzzling is this earlier birth document which I am guessing is dated 1836 -- it has the first wife listed on it.

Tom, in this document the mother appears to be Caterina Provenzano... I might be wrong...

You are correct about the mother Livio, but do you concur that the year is 1836?

Tom, it is unreadable. Could be 1836 but also 1839, 1831 or 1832...
