reporting tool for use with FTM files

Is there a generic tool that I can use to extract data from my FTM files....I still need to determine if I can access/understand the file format; I may need to extract a gedcom file and work with that instead? Any suggestions?

I have tried a couple of specific add-on programs and they were not really helpful.....I am trying to clean up some errors in my data.

There was a great forum all about FTM but I've mis placed the link. Hopefully someone else finds it. I'll keep looking for you too!
