When I download photographs onto my picture folder they automatically get transferred to Picasa. That was great because then I could darken/lighten them etc. Although all of the photographs have been transferred not all show up on the monitor. I checked 'something'? and then tried to import the ones that didnt show up and found they were listed as having been transferred. What came up on this screen was a small image of the photograph that wont come up on the monitor with a red circle with a red cross in the middle of it. Tried the HELP menu but nothing there to say what this means.
Any ideas ?

I know this is an old post but just in case you haven't resolved your problem,
Click on the view menu and click on hidden pictures and small pictures. That should bring up all your photos.

Thank You Barb
I did what you suggested and I noticed that he 'hidden pictures' was already 'ticked' but the small pictures were not so I 'ticked' them too and I now have all the missing folders.
Thank you so much
Emmy

I love Picasa. I have tried other software and this has worked the best for me ever since it came out.
I have lots of folders and am constanly reorganizing them especially since I try to keep my collection of manifests in some kind of order. It saves a lot of time to work on them and make them more readable. It is then easy to include them as media in my genealogy software. A lot of times I will do a screen shot and save it in the appropriate folder.
Glad I could be of some help.

Hi Barb
I must admit my Picasa at the moment is a bit like 'spahgetti junction'
If I change photographs into different folders in 'My Pictures' when I go back into Picasa it just copies them again and now I seem to have duplicates of a number of photographs must get my head around it all and get it sorted out. I know I'm not using it properly but knowing me the one thing I am good at is deleting things I want to keep.!

Hi folks,
I have used Picasa extensively for nearkly two years and just recently, just as we were about to install a new external hard drive to my computer, there was a screen message from Picasa saying something about 'saving' my library of photos to a safe place!!! Well I clicked YES and haven't managed to find the damned things since - ANYWHERE!!!
I like Picasa too for it's easy use of editing facilities. I have purchased Paint Sop Pro Photo XI but geez it takes about a month and a half to 'open' and you need a PHD in space science to use the damned thing
P.S. lilbees - are you by any chance the 'Barb' that likes photo's of bees on sunflowers???

Hey Carol, not the Barb you are speaking of but I love the same things.
Emmy, as for Picasa, when you have Picasa open you can click on the pics you want to move and just drag each to the folder you want to move it to and drop it. It will not duplicate your photo then. If you make changes to the original it will always save a copy of the original in the sub file "Original folder". So you don't have to make changes in your "My pictures" folder.
Carol, let me check my Picasa. I don't remember where my collection library is saved to but will let you know. Glad you asked. Be back tomorrow. Have to watch "Two and a half Men". Love the show.

Carole 'Safe Places' dont just disappear on the computer. My house works like that too. So the minute Barb or your computer tells you how to find a 'safe place' where things are being 'hidden from view' PLEASE let me into the secret then I may be able to find my note book telling me where all my safe places are -
p.s.The notebook is in a safe place too

Hey there Carol. Just to let you know if you have hidden files and folders to into you folders menu and change your default to view hidden files and folders. If you need more info let me know. After having worked on these systems for many years I assume everyone knows how to do work-arounds.
By the way, it is a beautiful 73 degrees here in Georgia. Love it. So balmy.............
