This Wednesday, 19 December, will mark the first Pennsylvania Coal Miners' Day introduced and passed this year in the Commonwealth's Legislature. The day will honor all those who labored in the mines and contributed so much to the nation's economy through their blood, sweat and tears, particularly the 51,509 Pennsylvania anthracite and bituminous miners who lost their lives on the job from 1870 to the present.

You're welcoime, Cathy and Nuccia.

There's been an unsuccessful movement over the past few years to have the post office issue a Coal Miner stamp in honor of the nation's past, present and future miners.

If Elvis and Marilyn Monroe can have a stamp, the coal miners certainly should!

I totally agree with you Cathy!

So many of our ancestors, regardless of their nationalities came to America to work in the mines. The least they could do is honor them with a stamp!
