Hey everyone, my friend Z's dad asked me to help him with a project but I need a little bit of help. I am looking for any info on Antonio Glavan, he was born in Privlaka, Croatia (Yugoslavia at the time) on May 24, 1891. His parents were Tomaso Glavan and Giacoma Busculich. He came to the U.S. and died in Staten Island, on March 23, 1945.
That is all the info I have, this is my friend's great grandfather, and her father would like to visit his grandfather's grave. I need to find out what cemetery he is in. Can anyone help, I really like these people and really want to help. Thanks

Hi Mike,
Any chance that he was employed as a crew member on ships? I located a few manifests from the early 1940s that have an Ante Glavan born about 1891 working as a fireman. Here's one manifest.
1940 manifest line 25
Same vessel next year
1941 manifest line 25
Same vessel same date
List of deserted seamen 1941 manifest
And one more manifest of seamen signing on a vessel berthed in Staten Island
1943 manifest
One more manifest from 1939
1939 manifest

Mike,
You might want to check with Z's Dad to see if Ante was a merchant seaman which would verify the crew manifests I posted. What I found interesting is that the 1942 draft card showed him working in a related career field for the Longshoremen's association; but that might just be a coincidence.
As a sidebar, I also found ship manifests for another Ante Glavan born about 1923 who also worked as a merchant seaman.
Let me know if there's anything else I can do.
Best,
Biff
