I really need some help in finding as much information as I can on the surname Murdica.

I have not been able to find anything and am not sure where to look or how to start. I have wanted to put together a little facts of origin, meaning of the name , emblems, coat of arms etc. for my husband and father-in-law as this is my marriage name.

My father-in-law is from Briatico, Vibo Valentia, Calabria.[u]

So far I have been told that the Murdica surname is can be found in these towns of Calabria:
Cimina
Oppido Mamertina
Cittanova
Taurianova

Were Cittanova, Taurianova are possibly were the majority emigrated from.

Also that the surname Murdica could have derived from the name Murdacca and maybe have same origin (coming from a calabrian dialect word: "murdacu"= a cardoon/thistle).

If anyone can help confirm this and possibly add to this information would be greatly appreciated and would help me so much!!
