My first post! I was born a Messina in Zimbabwe and traced family back to South Africa where there is lots of information as very well known. But the Messina branch came from Corfu in 1800s but appear not to have been there long as they arrived from Bagnara Calabra so the story goes and they then went to South Africa. I have one Messina info from Corfu but as to his father's name only Guiseppe Messina and nothing else. I suppose if I could find anything in Corfu first I may be led to his father Guiseppe info only then. Any ideas on websites to look how they travelled to South Africa as they were in fishing and boating in South Africa presume that is how they arrived so may not even been logged. And any other ideas? Thank you!
