Nuccia. i was told to contact you...i'm in the united states and i'm looking to locate my grandparents family history/genealogy. they came to the unitesd states in 1912. they were born in Italy, i was told most likely Bari or Trentino region. I want to get the family genealogy/history, where they were born, lived, what they did until
they came to the united states in 1912. who there brothers/sisters were. I've been told to get in touch with nuccia, that she may be able to help.....
my grandfather's name: Joseph(giuseppe) DeBellis
born: august 17, 1893(i did see another birthdate listed as 1883)?
my grandmother's maiden name: Angelina Zussino
they went to the state of colorado in the us.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Let me post what I've found so far.

Hi Nuccia,

Here is an interesting manifest for Giuseppe De Bellis and Angelina Zussino 1912 - on page one lists them as husband and wife - page 2 says she's going to her husband (surname) Aurelio in Trinidad California and lists Giuseppe as going to his brother-in-law (surname) Aurelio in Trinidad California. Seems strange doesn't it?

page 2

Edit.........both from Udine

Manifest for Teresa De Bellis (sister of Giuseppe) with her children coming from Plaleschis Udine - lists nearest relative as her mother Maria Cobia in Trinidad Colorado ? Going to her husband Giovanni Michelazza in Delagna Colorado. So it looks like Maria Cobia (Kolbia) mother of Giuseppe was living in Colorado when her daughter and grandkids came in 1921. There are other people going to Colorado also....see manifest.

Some possibilities on residences and places of birth based on Giuseppe and Angelina's 1912 manifest previously posted. See page 2 for places of birth. Angelina's appears to be Monteaperta and Giuseppe's Platischis which are both frazioni or hamlets in the town of Taipana.

Monteaperta, comune of Taipana - province: Udine - region: Friuli-Venezia Giuli

Platischis, comune of Taipana - province: Udine - region: Friuli-Venezia Giulia

The second page of his 1912 manifest states Giuseppe was in Colorado from 1906 to 1911.

Giuseppe's first manifest from 1906, line 23
Note he is travelling with sister Maria DeBellis and her children lines 18 and following. They are all going to Ludlow Colorado to join Maria's husband/Giuseppe's brother-in-law Aurelio Cher, same person as Giuseppe and Angelina's 1912 manifest. Giuseppe's occupation is mason and he is single. It's likely he returned to Italy in 1911 where he married Angelina before they both emigrated in 1912.

edited to add--Also note Paolo Michelizza on line 26 going to Ludlow Colorado to join uncle Antonio Michelizza. Same surname as Teresa DeBellis's husband.

Website of interest on the frazione of Platischis in Taipana. Interesting to note that DeBellis is another frazione in Taipana.
www.platischis.it/

Surnames in Taipana include De Bellis and Zussino

First of all, what printer are you using and which record do you want to print? Lets see if we can get you to print it..if not, we'll try something else, but I'm sure you should be able to do it.

To check for addresses/phone numbers of potential relatives in Italy:

www.paginebianche.it/index.html

In the cognome field type the surname De Bellis, Debellis or Zussino
In the dove field type in Taipana
Then click Red Cerca button.
