I am looking to find relatives of Giuseppe Cavallini - Born 26th February 1920, Serravalle a Po, Montova.
Giuseppe's father was called Luigi Cavallini and was born in Trecenta, Rovigo, Veneto. He died before WW2.
Giuseppe's mother was called Argenide Cavallini (Negrini) and was born in Ostiglia, Montova.
I believe Giuseppe also had a sister.
Giuseppe married Antonieta Ferarini (born in Borgofranco sul Po, Mantova) about 1941. They lived in Carbonara di Po, Mantova.
He was called up and fought in WW2. He was a motorcycle despatch rider in the 132 regiment 3rd battalion and was caught in Tobruk, Libya on 22 April 1941
He was then taken to the UK and kept as a prisoner of war on the Orkney Island off the coast of Scotland. Some of the men at this camp (550 Italians in total at the camp) built the chapel you see in the photo section out of two nissen huts (metal huts used to house prisoners).
If you wish to know more about the chapel you will find a lot about it on the internet, this site is a good start;
www.undiscoveredscotla...ianchapel/
Giuseppe Cavallini did not work on the actual chapel itself but did help in the construction of the statue of St. George on the horse you see in the photographs.
In 1944 Giuseppe was transferred to a camp near Manchester. He worked at a factory in Trafford Park called Turners. Whilst here he met members of my family and they became close friends.
In May 1946 Giuseppe was repatriated to Italy.
We then lost contact with him.
I would really like to make contact with him or his descendants.
So my search is a very difficult one but a search I thought I would ask your help on
